Will not be disqualified based on word count

So, the draft is still a complete mess (the tenses don't even match. I mean, like, it's not always consistent within paragraphs let alone within scenes!), and there are several scenes only half written and some where I still haven't decided where they go, and a couple not even begun plus a whole other thread that I'm toying with trying to include, BUT, two nights ago, I broke 20,000 words!

*dances*

My longest posted fic to date is only 11,000 words, so even though I knew this story needed well over 20,000 words to tell it, I was nervous about my ability to get there.

Anyway, don't hate me. I write very slowly, and I'm absolutely still going to be working down to the wire. Plus, I started this story over a year ago, so 20,000 is actually pretty pathetic.

How is everyone else doing?

Whahey for making word count!

I have JUST ABOUT finished as of an hour ago... obviously tons of editing, corrections & proofing still required, and the last two parts still need beta'ing, but... the story is there. Which feels great, as the last week has been really hard! (And its not the word count that's been my problem, it's been the plot).

*shuffles off to begin edits*

Wow! A finished draft! Congratulations.

The plot is really my main problem too. It's just that even though I knew I couldn't finish this story without breaking 20,000 words, a part of me still doubted until it actually happened.

Heh. Still pretty sure I'll have to drop out, but right now I'm cringing as I type up the hand-written draft. So much fun. :D

I hope you don't have to drop out! Just keep plugging away. Worst thing that happens is you have a big chunk of a long story done that you can finish some other time.

Way ahead in quantity, perhaps, but likely not quality. 10,000 is half way there! (And you've probably written loads more in the past few days.) You can do it!

I'm around 12,000, but I only have three chapters finished and each is around 3,000 words. My current plot calls for twelve. So yeah. :) I don't think this is going to work out by the deadline.

eta: Jeez, how self-centered am I? Congratulations on making it to 20,000! That's fantastic and I can't wait to read it. :)

Thank you! But I assure you, I don't expect people to be other than wrapped up in their own panic. I know I sure am!

I hope you make it! I don't know what your writing pace is usually like, but I believe you can do it!
